Red Velvet Fondant

I took my final scheduled cake decorating class last Saturday. It was the fondant class. All the previous classes had been decorating with buttercream. Since I had worked with fondant before, it was mostly review, but I did learn how to make fondant roses. I also learned that Satin Ice fondant is much easier and tastier to work with than Wilton's. I bought the tools to make the roses at home. I made a red velvet cake in honor of the Christmas season and also as practice for the upcoming wedding cake I'll be making. I love the contrast of the white and red. I have the option of taking more classes. I haven't decided whether I will yet or not. I would like to learn how to make more flowers.

Dinosaur Cake

This was for my son's first birthday. It didn't turn out exactly like the picture in the instructions because I used cream cheese frosting rather than buttercream. Cream cheese frosting is not as fluffy. I still think it looks pretty good though. The cake itself was just a white cake.

Stitch Cake

This cake was another one for my cake decorating class. I chose orange for the frosting color in honor of Halloween which was the following day.

Basket Weave

This cake was for made for my cake decorating class. It doubled as my sister-in-law's birthday cake.

Vine Cake

My first wedding cake (for my sister-in-law). Largest cake was red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Middle cake was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Smallest cake was lemon cake with lemon curd and lemon cream cheese frosting.
